I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. I don’t know why. I’ve just been in love with the beautiful scenery, the friendly people, and the volcanos. Definitely the volcanos. It is hard to wrap my brain around the fact that there is this fiery black rock and all these lush tropical plants in the same place.
I haven’t gone yet, for a few reasons. The first is that it takes a long time, which is a bummer. So it isn’t somewhere that I could go for a weekend or something. Not that I would want to go there for only a couple days anyway! The second reason is that I am still saving up money to afford the trip. You know sometimes how you want to go somewhere but you want to do it right? That’s how I feel. I don’t want to stay in a hostel or in a tent on the beach or something. I want to stay at a nice place and be able to afford to do all the fun stuff I want to! I know that Hawaii is expensive so I want to be prepared. Lastly, I would like to have someone to share it with. I don’t necessarily mean that I need to have a significant other to take me but even a friend who wants to make the trip would be great. But my friends have the same issues I have: being able to take a good chunk of time off of work and also having the funds to do it right.
I want that whole experience. Getting off the plane and having somebody in a grass skirt or a Hawaiian shirt giving me a lei to wear. I want to hike to the top of a volcano. I think that would be great! I want to take pictures near the top, and watch the steam come out. I’m normally not a hiker but I think I could do it with such a great reward at the end. I also want to fly in a helicopter between islands. This would give me another great view of Hawaii and the pictures would be awesome! It is probably a good thing that I am not afraid of heights with these being the top two things on my list, huh?
I also want to see a traditional luau. I am sure that these are really done up for the tourists but I just feel like if I am there, it is something I should see, you know? Maybe I could learn a little hula dancing or fire breathing or something, too. Not enough that I would be brave enough to really perform in front of anybody, just to have the knowledge that I could do maybe one cool trick or something. That would be fun!
Another thing I want to do is try a little surfing. I probably should practice that one before I go, so that I can really spend time out on the water instead of taking lessons or just face planting all the time.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? Want to come with? Maybe we can all get a group rate!
